RECYCLE MATE APP

Did you know there is a new FREE app to identify where to recycle particular items in your area?  It’s called Recycle Mate. 

I downloaded the app on my phone and put in my area (Maleny) and selected which council I was with (SCC) then took a photo of a cherry ripe wrapper as I wasn’t sure whether to put this in general waste or recycling (it looks like foil on the inside, right!).

The app identified that I could put it in the general waste OR the other/better option it gave was to take it to Woolworths Maleny where it gets recycled as part of the Redcyle soft plastics recycling program.  Who knew that a cherry ripe wrapper was considered soft plastics?!
