WAM PROJECTS

WAM has several ongoing projects that it runs or supports. These include:

The WAM Guide

This is a guide to where you can take household items locally to be repaired, reused or recycled. It is updated regularly and contributions or corrections are welcomed. To access the full Guide click here.

Education & Information

The focus of this group is to create resources, set up information booths at events and markets, publish on the WAM website, FB group page, Newsletter, update the WAM Guide, schedule film screenings and speakers, and participate in events such as National Recycling Week, Maleny Sustainability Fest and World Environment Day.

We hold regular information stalls to educate and inform the community about recycling and waste issues, including disposing of waste responsibly. Our waste sorting activity is a huge hit, especially with the kids who often know more about what waste goes where than the adults!

If you would like to become involved in the Education & Information Group, we would welcome your participation. Please email us here.

Seed & Produce Swap and Seed Library

This monthly Seed & Produce Swap is a WAM-supported project initiated by Psaltis (Soul), one of WAM’s Coordinating Committee Members. Everyone is welcome to come along and bring excess produce or seeds to trade with others, meet other like-minded people and share ideas about food gardening and food security.

Soul is also in the process of setting up a Seed Library through Maleny Library. Seed libraries embody permaculture principles of earth care, people care and fair share. You can find out more about this group and join Maleny Seed Library here.

PROJECTS UNDER CONSIDERATION

Conversations for Change

This is a new project being considered, for small groups to get together to chat about opportunities for positive change in our homes and communities.

What are your hopes, ideas, successes and challenges?

Stay tuned – venue and times to be advised.

The WAM App

This is a concept project in development at the moment. The idea is to create an app that would essentially be ‘WAM in a box’. This might include a household waste audit, tutorial videos and guides to reduce our waste, carbon emissions etc, and provide access to the WAM blog and Facebook page and group. Any app developers out there? We could probably use a little help with this one.
